All our highly skilled tutors are very experienced teachers and outdoor leaders and enthusiasts with a fresh, fun and friendly approach to delivering outdoor first aid. Our unique Act Fast First games and activities have been designed for you to leave our courses feeling highly skilled and confident first aiders and ready to ACT FAST in an outdoor emergency.\n \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nThe First Aid for Cyclists covers the following:\nMinimising risk in an outdoor emergency situation Safe accident procedures including primary and secondary casualty surveySafe airway positions Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of AEDs Treatment for bleeding and shock Appropriate first aid kits and outdoor equipmentManaging fractures and dislocations in the outdoorsFirst aid for sprains and strains and soft tissue injuriesSerious head injuries and helmet removalManaging a casualty with a suspected spinal injury\n \nCourse Duration & Assessment:\nThe training and assessment typically consists of a 4-hour course. \nStudents are assessed continuously by tutor observation of ‘real-life’ skills in a friendly and supportive way. There are no written tests to complete at the end of the course as the outcomes are assessed by demonstration of practical first aid in our fun and interactive outdoor scenario-based approach throughout the two days day.
