DESCRIPTION:\nThis course has been designed for Forest School Practitioners and covers a range of first aid skills required to deal with injury and illness in a more remote environment.\nIt is achieved by completing a 2-day (16 hour) course. Learners attending this course can also gain a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid to meet their workplace requirements in EYFS or primary settings\n​The skills and knowledge learnt on this course are contextualised to a Forest Schools setting and will be applied to adults, children and infants. There are lots of practical based scenarios to practise and apply your skills in an outdoor setting.\nOver the 2 days the course will include the following:\n Managing own safety in an outdoor first aid incident\nManaging group safety in an outdoor setting\nAssessment procedure of a casualty including primary and secondary survey\nManaging an unconscious casualty\nProtecting a casualty from the environment – Hypothermia and hyperthermia\nSafe airway positions\nCPR protocols for cardiac arrest and drowning\nUse of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)\nTreatment for bleeding and shock\nFirst Aid for Burns\nDealing with fractures, head, neck and spine injuries\nMedical emergencies: seizures, anaphylaxis, strokes, diabetes and asthma\nBites, stings and outdoor related infections such as Weil’s Disease\nTriage and incident management in the outdoor setting\n​All our courses are valid for 3 years and all our trainers have extensive qualifications and experience based in schools and the outdoors.\n\n \n
