Level 3 Paediatric First Aid – 2 day (12 hours)
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) introduces the techniques, skills and decisions that will be needed by childcare practitioners. The skills and knowledge will be taught in a realistic context and we will adhere to government social distancing guidelines throughout ensuring candidates feel safe and risk of cross-infection is minimized at all times.

The course includes the following: Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty
- CPR on infants and children
- Safe airway position
- Monitoring a casualty
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Seizures
- Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- First aid kit use
- Completing accident reports
Unit 2: PFA – Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies
- Spinal injury
- Medical conditions
- Burns and scalds
- Electricity
- Limb support
- Bites/stings
- Poisoning
- Minor injuries
- Cold/heat
The training and assessment typically consists of a 2-day (12 hours). Students are assessed continuously by tutor observation of ‘real-life’ skills benchmarked to National Occupational Standards.
Certificates are valid for 3 years
