2-Hour Allergy Awareness Course – Understanding Benedict’s Law

This 2-hour Allergy Awareness course provides learners with a clear understanding of allergies, allergic reactions, and the importance of safe practices in everyday environments. The course explores the principles of Benedict’s Law and its relevance to allergy management, helping participants recognise risks, respond appropriately to allergic incidents, and promote safer environments for individuals with allergies.

Topics covered include:

• Understanding common allergies and intolerances in schools
• Recognising signs and symptoms of allergic reactions
• Introduction to Benedict’s Law and its application
• Developing and understanding allergy policies and procedures
• Identifying allergens and reducing exposure risks
• Emergency response procedures, including anaphylaxis awareness and adrenaline auto-injector training
• Creating a whole school approach to allergy awareness and inclusion
• Promoting allergy-safe practices in schools

This course is suitable for staff working in education, healthcare, hospitality, childcare, social care, and customer-facing roles, as well as anyone seeking greater awareness of allergy management and safety responsibilities.

By the end of the course, learners will have increased confidence in recognising allergy risks, understanding legal and ethical responsibilities, and supporting individuals with allergies safely and effectively. Attendees will also receive an Act Fast First Aid Certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.
